Frequently Asked Questions |
| |
| |
What is the wait period for your centre? |
| |
If you are requiring infant care, the wait period could be over a year. The best time to join the wait list would be during the first months of your pregnancy. |
| |
| |
If I can’t get an infant placement and find alternate care but still wish to be on the wait list for the next age placement, do I move to the bottom of the list? |
| |
No, your placement on the wait list is based on first date of contact. You would not move to the bottom of the list but would be slotted into the next age group in order of your contact date. |
| |
| |
Why is the waiting period so long? |
| |
We receive a number of requests for placement throughout the year. Some have been on the wait list for 1.5 – 2 years. Some of our placements are allotted to families requiring subsidized spots and some of our placements are allotted to families with children having special needs. |

| |
What services are available to my child with special needs? |
| |
We have a part time physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, and resource teacher on site. Each therapist works directly with the children with special needs, their families and the teachers to create goals and objectives to help the children reach their potential. |
| |
| |
Will my child’s part time days coincide with the days of the therapists? |
| |
Part time schedules for children with special needs will be adjusted to meet any clinical needs. |
| |
| |
Do the teachers provide a quality program for each child in their classroom? |
| |
The ratio at Wee Care is 1 teacher to 4 children. This is lower than in other centres because of the various needs of the children in our care. The teachers are very able and capable of providing every child with the opportunities and challenges they need to grow and develop. |
